Dear colleagues, students, alumni, and friends,
I hope each of you were able to enjoy a restful winter break with opportunities to reflect upon the achievements of 2023 and envision the possibilities that await us in 2024.
This past year brought many changes to the College of Engineering & Computer Sciences, and I look forward to sharing more good news with you as the new year progresses. Our faculty were hard at work last semester with research and other projects in every department. We are collaborating with other colleges and the Office of Research to obtain new funding in important areas such as energy expansion, critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity, and information and communication networking.
I am also pleased to welcome National Academy of Engineering member Jim Brill to the petroleum engineering faculty this month. While Jim and I are newly acquainted, many of you have known him for years as he was a force for ground-breaking research and innovation in the college for decades. After taking a break from academic life, we are thrilled Jim has returned to campus for the next chapter in his storied career.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has been so incredibly supportive in my first months here at The University of Tulsa. From President Carson and Provost Justice to faculty colleagues, fellow deans and caring alumni and donors, it has been a humbling experience. My family and I are touched by the outpouring of kindness, and for this I will always be grateful.
