Guide to College Professors

College professors are not your enemies, they truly care to see you succeed. I heard all of these horror stories from my older friends in college saying their professors didn’t care whether or not they did well. In some cases, this may be true if you show them that you do not care, but if you want an A then your professors will do everything in their power to help you if you show them that. I had some of the best relationships with my high school teachers, I still go to them in college when I need help with a certain subject or simply need someone to talk to. That was one of the hardest things transitioning from high school to college, having the thought that the professors didn’t care. TU has some of the most amazing professors, and I can say that firsthand I have had amazing experiences with them. When it comes to having questions, they are willing to briefly talk after class, set up an appointment during office hours, or emailing in a timely manner. I was so scared to step up and say I needed help with something, even though it is highly encouraged to be brave and ask when needed. I finally got over the fear of it and spoke with my professor when I was struggling. Human Anatomy is not the easiest course, I figured it would be a breeze considering I took it in high school, but I was wrong. I went to my professor with the specific topics I was struggling with and she made sure that I understood everything by the time our meeting was over. I cannot stress this enough, talk with your professors. If you show them you care, they will give you the same amount of effort back to you, if not more.
