I could never afford a private school

Growing up me and my mom never had much money to spend on things other than food and bills. The fanciest place to me growing up was Goodwill, and I still thought some of the stuff there was expensive.

So, I went to a public school my whole life, but not ones that take you on end-of-the-year trips, no, I went to school in the middle of no-were. It was called Union City, with the population being less than most graduating classes at 1,200 people. I was ever so lucky to graduate with 22 students that I got to call my friends.

a group of studentsSo, when it became that time of senior year where you apply to colleges all the private ones scared me. Well, to be honest all college scared me not because it would be more school but the fact of how much it was. I worked most of my high school trying to get scholarships, so I didn’t have to get a big loan. Yet, when I saw the prices of college, I suddenly felt like I would never have enough money.

I applied to my top dream school and after months of waiting, I got the thing I dreaded in the mail, a rejection letter.

Tulsa was one of the schools that I put on a list called “Dream schools that I can’t get in”. One of the reasons it was considered a private school. One of the things that I could never afford growing up. So, I thought I would never be able to afford it when I am trying to become an Adult.

Well, don’t let that scare you like it did me. Tulsa is a great school that loves to help its students in every way it can. They love helping you get scholarships, so you don’t have to pay a private school tuition. Everyone here cares about you and your future, there’s not many places that you could find like TU!
