Within my first week at The University of Tulsa I met so many new friends that all have such different backgrounds! In my dorm building, there are a lot of students that are only here for 1 year. They come from all over the world. On my first day of classes I met a girl from Egypt, my roommate and I were walking down frat row and she hollered to stop us. We helped her find her building since we were passing it on the way to our first class. She had told us that she arrived at TU around 11:30pm the night before. I had never met anyone of Egypt or had a conversation with anyone. It was a cool experience to meet someone that came from so far away and to get to know them further. She has sat with me at lunch, and I have also helped her find her classes after the first day. Since my building is mainly for students that are only here for a year, I have had the opportunity to meet so many new faces. They have all been super sweet, hearing their accents has been interesting because I don’t have many close friends that have traveled from far away. I have met students from England, Ireland, and Egypt. I’m thankful that TU has given me the opportunity to meet such a wide variety of people. It has expanded my friend groups and made my experience at TU so much more enjoyable. I have learned how some of their towns are and how they function compared to how it is in the United States. Hanging out with them has made it very interesting every day, they have explained how the schools in their countries work and how they are different compared to how it is here. Most of them have different experiences and have shared with me multiple stories that have made me curious as to why it is so different in their country.
