Matthew Barney will deliver the commencement address to more than 250 University of Tulsa graduates on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Center on TU’s campus.
Barney, who holds master’s and doctoral degrees in industrial-organizational psychology from TU, is the founder and CEO of LeaderAmp, a startup with new science and technology for leadership coaching, assessment and journaling. He has more than 20 years of experience in senior and strategic global roles in large technology (Infosys, AT&T/Lucent, Motorola), healthcare (Sutter Health, Merck) and startup organizations (Virtual MindWorks, Anvea).
Barney wrote his fourth book as an expatriate in India; Leading Value Creation: Organizational Science, Bioinspiration and the Cue See Model was published worldwide by Palgrave Macmillan in December 2013. He has published and made presentations on leader development, human capital, computer-adaptive testing and Digital Six Sigma throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas, and has authored five patents. He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
During Saturday’s ceremony, TU will recognize the 2014 Marcy Lawless Service Award winner, Meghana Rao, a senior in the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, who is a May 2015 candidate for a bachelor’s degree in biology/pre-med. The award, which carries a stipend of $1,200, is presented to the student who most closely emulates First Lady Emerita Marcy Lawless’ generous spirit, creativity and commitment to serving others.
