Exciting developments continue at Collins College of Business. With support from our Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, led by Chris Wright, a group of our students will be attending SXSW to support computer science/cyber security senior Julian Abhari and MBA student Daniel Marques. The duo will be pitching their business, SkinCheck, as one of 45 finalists worldwide in the SXSW Global Pitch Competition. It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to highlight their company and talent on a global stage.

Our relationship with Dublin City University continues to grow. I will be speaking at their upcoming DigiAdvance Accelerator Workshop and leading a discussion on women in higher education leadership with their faculty during my visit to DCU. Collins students will be learning about the Irish innovation economy when they visit Dublin in May.

Our real estate program continues to grow under the leadership of Meagan McCollum. In addition to students attending a top real estate conference this January, I am thrilled to announce that Anahi Serna, finance alum, has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from CREW, Commercial Real Estate Women, an organization dedicated to supporting women in commercial real estate. She is the first student from Oklahoma to receive this prestigious scholarship. Thanks to Julie Buxton, a member of the college’s real estate advisory board, for her support of this opportunity. The work of our many board members makes a difference in the lives of our students as this scholarship demonstrates.

I am proud of the accomplishments of our students and faculty and grateful for your continued support in our endeavors. Thank you for being a part of our Collins College of Business community.

With Gratitude,

Kathy Taylor
