TU alumna Mary Kay Place wins best actress for Diane

Mary Kay Place on red carpetMary Kay Place (BA ‘69) is a Tulsan born and raised who has successfully transplanted and flourished in the California sun and camera lights. Place attended The University of Tulsa and gained her bachelor’s degree before moving to Los Angeles to star in films such as Being John MalkovichGirl, Interrupted, and Youth in Revolt.

In 2019, Place won best actress for Diane from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and was nominated in the same category by the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards and Gotham Awards.

On Saturday, Place won best actress for her leading role in Diane from the National Society of Film Critics Awards, USA and has been nominated for best female lead in the Film Independent Spirit Awards which will be awarded February 8.
