Ever college freshman is terrified of walking into their dorm on move-in day to find someone they will never connect with as their roommate. I was no exception. The first thing I did when I accepted The University of Tulsa, was figure out how to find a roommate.
I had never necessarily expected to be best friends with my freshman year roommate, but I did want to find someone I could relate to and get along with. Thankfully, the TU Roommate Finder App had all the eligible roommates I could ever ask for.
The app asked the basic questions. “When do you go to sleep?” “Are you a clean person?” “What are you interested in?” After we answered our own questions, we were able to see profiles that were comparable to what we set our preferences. If you are thinking to yourself “this sounds like a dating app”, then you are correct: a dating app for roommates!
After browsing the potential candidates for a while, I found a profile that felt like a match. I worked up the nerve to text her. One month later, we were official. Official roommates.
We moved into the coed freshman dorm, Fisher South, a few months later. We were excited to decorate our room and plan color-coordinated bedspreads.
Like I said, I did not have the expectation of being best friend with my new roommate. However, as freshman year progressed, it would be clear that Fisher South room 325 created a bond between us that will never be broken. Not only were we freshman roommates, but we have been roommates all 4 years. We even studied abroad together in the same city in Spring 2020.
Thanks to the TU Roommate Finder App, I found not only a roommate, but a lifelong friend.
