TU alumnus Sean Alexander (BSBA ’97) will deliver the commencement address on Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Alexander is principal director of application platforms at Microsoft, helping top publishers craft applications for Xbox and Windows.
Alexander’s interest in technology began while he was a student at The University of Tulsa, where he worked with the web development team in the Collins College of Business. During that time, he conceived and led an award-winning student web development organization, incubated via grants secured from Microsoft, Vyvx and Williams. In recognition of his outstanding academic and entrepreneurship accomplishments, Alexander was named MIS Graduate of the Year in 1997. After graduation, TU hired Alexander as its director of online development.
Since joining Microsoft in 1997, Alexander has held leadership positions in business management and engineering and is a graduate of the joint Microsoft/Kellogg School of Business Leadership Program. Highlights of his work at Microsoft include leading the launch team for Windows XP in New York City and winning a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award.
Alexander currently serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the Collins College of Business. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his two sons, scuba diving, flying and searching for good barbeque in Seattle.
