Mike Mills has been named The University of Tulsa’s associate vice president for enrollment and student services and dean of students after serving briefly as interim dean. He had served as associate dean for community relations since 2011 and as associate dean of students and coordinator of university and community service from 2007 to 2011.
“Mike brings more than 30 years of student services experience to the leadership team in the Division of Enrollment and Student Services,” said ESS Vice President Earl Johnson. “His experience working with student organizations, interpreting and implementing policy and programming will serve our students well.”
Mills was a driving force behind the success of TU’s True Blue Neighbors program, which last year reported more than 75,000 hours of volunteer service in our community. He brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to the job after holding a variety of student service positions at TU intermittently since 1986.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to again work with the dedicated Student Affairs team at TU,” Mills said. “We are dedicated to providing a vast array of activities, programs and support services designed to engage our students. Our goal is to help create a safe and supportive campus environment in which our students can live, learn and thrive.”
Mills earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to TU, he has served at OU, Tulsa Community College and Rogers University as well as the State Regents for Higher Education.
He represents TU as a member of several community organizations and committees, including the Kendall Whittier Neighborhood Task Force, Kendall Whittier Inc. and the Kendall-Whittier School Partners In Education team. He also works with Oklahomans for Equality and the Assistance League of Tulsa.
