OCII’s Cyber Range welcomes partners for Industry Day 2025

On Feb. 21, The University of Tulsa’s Oklahoma Cyber Innovation Institute hosted a successful Cyber Range Industry Day, drawing more than 30 professionals from diverse sectors including banking, insurance, defense, cybersecurity providers, and municipal organizations.

The event accomplished its primary objectives:

  • Raising awareness about the OCII’s Cyber Range capabilities
  • Reviewing potential use cases for industry partners
  • Providing clear directions for future engagement opportunities

Cyber ranges are virtual environments that employ state-of-the-art hardware and software to simulate the internet, systems, applications and devices in a safe training environment using an organization’s actual software to address real-world cyber concerns. Organizations and consultants can use the environment to evaluate capabilities, test new procedures and identify potential vulnerabilities in advance of a breach.

The OCII team was joined by Paul Winter, vice president of professional services at SimSpace, UTulsa’s Cyber Range provider and strategic partner, who contributed valuable insights during the presentation and Q&A session.

Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees expressing enthusiasm about the Cyber Range capabilities and the collaborative opportunities it presents for the cybersecurity community. Two participants have started the process to gain access to the OCII Cyber Range.
