OMA Conference, 2019

Oklahoma Museums Association, or OMA, has a conference every year dedicated to Oklahoma museums. Over the three day conference period, there are multiple workshops and talks that discuss different issues that museums and museum professionals face. This year the conference was held at the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma from September 18th to the 20th. The University of Tulsa Museum Science and Management program sets up a table at this conference to discuss the program with those that might be interested in applying.

This year the conference featured workshops on topics including service dogs in museums, digital media, museum accessibility, museums and their communities, among others. The Thursday lunch featured Choctaw dancers and keynote speaker Brian Vallo who discussed guidelines for collaboration between Native American tribes and museums.
