The University of Tulsa is pleased to announce that Buford Pollett, who serves as the Genave King Rogers Endowed Associate Professor of Energy Law and Commerce, has received the President’s Education of the Year Award from the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN).

AIEN is an independent not-for-profit professional membership association that supports international energy negotiators around the world and enhances their effectiveness and professionalism in the international energy community.

Established in 2006, the President’s Education of the Year Award recognizes outstanding scholarly contributions that have advanced AIEN’s mission within the academic community. Pollett received this honor for his support of education through the Education Advisory Board (EAB), advocacy for student members and bringing unique opportunities like the 2024 student webinar to AIEN.

“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to AIEN, AAPL and our other valued partners for their continued support of our students and energy programs,” he said. “Their commitment plays a vital role in helping us prepare the next generation of energy leaders.”

Pollett is also among the first recipients of the newly designed AIEN custom award. The piece symbolizes AIEN’s legacy in traditional oil and gas, its expanding role in new energies and its three core pillars – continuing education, model contracts and global networking.
