Scholar V. Kumar to present “The Power of CMO in Today’s World” Sept. 30

Professor V KumarThe University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business will host a visit from V. Kumar, a world-renowned scholar and thought leader who has worked on marketing research consulting projects with IBM, Comcast, Wells Fargo, Polo Ralph Lauren, AllState, American Airlines, Coca-Cola Foods and many other companies.

Kumar will present The Power of CMO in Today’s World at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in TU’s Chapman Hall Auditorium. His experience and research provide a major spark for the leadership of any international or domestic business looking to expand their market and retain customers while increasing the value of each one. The event is free and open to the public.

Kumar, a marketing professor at St. John’s University, has held distinguished professorships at Georgia State University, University of Connecticut and the University of Houston. He is also a fellow at the Hagler institute for Advanced Study at Texas A&M University.

“Dr. Kumar is a superstar of marketing and has worked closely with some of the largest companies in the world,” said Kathy Taylor, Genave King Rogers Interim Dean of the Collins College of Business. “It’s such an amazing opportunity for not only our university, but for the Tulsa community to have him on campus. While the students, staff and faculty can learn a lot from him, I know the Tulsa community can benefit, too. Tulsa business is thriving – including local business exploding TU’s doorstep of Route 66 – and I hope our business community can attend the lectures and learn.”

Kumar is one of the most recognized marketing thought leaders in the world. His track record includes more than 49,000 publication citations, and he’s a Top 1% cited research scholar on the Web of Science. Kumar is currently listed in Who’s Who Worldwide for his leadership and achievement in the field of marketing, and Who’s Who Among Global Business Leaders for his thought-leadership and quality work. He’s also been named “Marketing Legend” by the Sage Legend Series.

Adrien Bouchet, senior associate dean of Collins College of Business, said the visit shows TU’s commitment to bringing distinguished professionals to the community. “Throughout my time at Tulsa, I’ve seen some extraordinary scholars and leaders visit the university.
