My first TU experience began over the summer. I received an email about the Stem Boot Camp and I took the opportunity to apply. I got accepted and I was able to move onto campus two weeks before the normal move in day. I was expecting to get a heavy workload with difficult tasks. The first week felt extremely long and there was a slightly heavy work requirement, but the professors were willing to help us with anything that we were struggling with. We had chemistry, biology, FYE, and math for the first week. Some of the boot-campers started doing study groups, which helped lighten the load. The second week went by way smoother and much quicker. We had engineering, computer science, math, and FYE. Engineering was a very interesting major to learn about, but computer science was sort of hard to grasp. During the program I felt welcomed and like I belonged even though I wasn’t a stem major. I got the chance to learn new material and even got a refresher of old material. Relearning the old material has really helped me get through the first few weeks of classes and I am very grateful that I received the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing program. The students that attended were all wonderful people and the professor and Other staff members that were involved were also pretty great. I believe that this boot camp is a very helpful way for freshmen to not only get a head start, but to meet a group of people that you can always rely on.
