The University of Tulsa’s Center for Global Engagement (CGE) together with Student Activities hosted the annual Study Abroad Fair in the Student Union on Sept. 19, sharing information about travel courses and other study abroad opportunities with more than 250 students.
Nearly 30 exchange partners and program providers and more than a dozen faculty-led travel courses were promoted. Altogether, UTulsa students had the opportunity to explore nearly 50 study abroad opportunities in destinations such as Japan, China, Vietnam, Nepal, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Belize, Mexico, and Peru.
Two of the largest barriers to education abroad are finances and the lack of knowledge regarding the process. CGE staff shared information about support as well as financial resources available to fund study abroad experiences.
Last academic year, 289 UTulsa students studied abroad in 32 countries, participating in programs ranging from short-term travel courses to full-semester exchanges, marking a 27% increase from the previous year. CGE also supports UTulsa’s 410 international students, 26 of whom are exchange students visiting from international partner institutions.
Faculty and staff who are interested in leading a travel course may sign up online.
Instructors who would like CGE to present about study abroad opportunities to their class may request a presentation.
Students who were unable to attend the Study Abroad Fair can learn about education abroad opportunities by visiting global.utulsa.edu or the CGE office, located on the third floor of Holmes Student Center in Hardesty Hall.
