Distinction granted to less than three percent of ASME membership
Steven Tipton, Frank W. Murphy Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has received the Fellow Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The honor is a distinction granted to less than three percent of the ASME’s 125,000 members.
Tipton’s 32 years of research and design have advanced the understanding of fatigue and failure of coiled tubing mechanics and led to worldwide expanded applications for oil and gas production. He has written eight patents and more than 200 technical publications and presentations.
Tipton is a registered professional engineer. He previously has been recognized as an ASME Worthington Medal recipient, an American Society for Metals Fellow and a Society of Petroleum Engineers Distinguished Lecturer.
