The last story that I will share about my TU experience is getting a cane cares. Cane Cares is when a professor, friend or a faculty member does anonymous check in on you. I got a Cane Cares from Ms. Kathy. I was super stressed out and just carrying everything on my shoulders.
The stresses of passing all my classes. Stats at this time was kicking my behind badly and was failing that class, to figuring my housing situation as my sister was coming to TU, and just the pressure of keeping my academic scholarship.
So, one day I randomly got an email from the counselors about getting a report.
At first, I was like who did this report because at the time Olivia and I were having a falling out but my mental health was in the mix but when going to my weekly meeting with my success coach, she told me that she was the one who put it in. I was thinking too highly of Olivia to be honest, but the point is that there are people at TU who genuinely care for you.
TU has a family vibe. We all look for out for each other. One thing that I noticed after we lost a student here at TU-on-TU campus Mr. Matthew from California, is that more people were noticing the tiniest thing. For example, I was sitting by myself and only a handful of people were in the union. I choked on my food and a guy from tennis named Callum asked if I was okay. Mind you we were tables away from each other and I didn’t think he even noticed me. It took me by surprised but the school became even closer after losing Matthew.
