The date was February 1, 2020, and the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricanes men’s basketball had a grueling match set against the Wichita State shockers. A sold-out arena and win hungry TU student body and team showed out to unite in preparations for an energetic match that from the beginning seemed would already be one for the record books. As a student there, time seemed to no longer obey the laws of Earthly physics as throughout the game it warped and slowed due to the immense energy present. The hardest part about being a student at the University of Tulsa is balancing the immense curriculum with fun, but TU has an amazing way of sneaking memorable moments into your collegiate career. No game had been advertised more than this game, and it showed as people has to be packed into their seats to hold all the jubilant Golden Hurricanes. As we all came together to show our spirit to the team, the team made it a game for us as it was one of the closest back and forth battles possible in the sport. When we were winning and happy, time continued to creep by, but as we would digress in points, again time would twist and buckle. Just as the clock struck zero all, one of the lesser known all stars on the team, Elijah Joiner heaved a shot from the Tulsa sign with a dream. All sound seized in the facility as the ball hovered in the air aimed at the rim. Good time to be a student as you could have done your math homework in the time it took the ball to re-enter the stratosphere. A buzzer beater score to give us the large W. Everyone roared into winning screams as no student spared the chance to rush the court. The camera panned towards the student section and on ESPN national tv I was caught for a second indulging in the sweet taste of a Tulsa basketball win. After the game, I went home and did schoolwork, and as you can see, a lifelong memory was created out of an ordinary school day at TU, never forgetting TU had shocked the shockers.
