The University of Tulsa has been named a College of Distinction for the 2014-2015 school year. TU is among a select group of higher education institutions to receive this prestigious designation, based on excellence in four distinctive areas: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant campus communities and successful outcomes.
Colleges of Distinction honors schools nationwide for outstanding performance in undergraduate education through its website and e-guidebook. High school college counselors and educators nominate colleges and universities for consideration. They are then evaluated based on qualitative and quantitative research that looks beyond rankings and test scores to discover colleges that are ideal places to learn, grow and succeed. The selection process reviews factors such as the first-year experience of students, general education programs, experimental curriculum components, strategic planning and alumni success.
The Colleges of Distinction website features dynamic college profiles and user-friendly search tools for students, parents and counselors. The honor follows TU’s recent inclusion in the 2015 edition of Fiske Guide to Colleges, a college admissions publication that highlights some of the country’s top universities.
