The University of Tulsa is featured in the 2018 Fiske Guide to Colleges, one of the top independent publications in college admissions. Millions of students, parents and guidance counselors have relied on the annual guide for sound university statistics for the past 30 years.
TU is among more than 300 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom chosen for subjective and systematic analysis. The guide highlights many university factors such as student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus environment, housing, food and extracurricular activities. Other features include a preprofessional section that outlines the best schools based on majors or course of study.
“With an emphasis on undergraduate research, hands-on work experience, and a diverse array of course offerings, TU has found its niche,” according to the 2018 guide. “TU is trying to do some things differently: be a small liberal arts school in a part of the country most known for sprawling public universities, and incorporate professional preparation with an emphasis on broad intellectual challenges.”
The publication is compiled by Edward B. Fiske who served 17 years as education editor for the New York Times. He also coauthored the Fiske Guide to Getting into the Right College and Fiske Real College Essays That Work.
