This second experience begins once I had gotten a little more settled in. It was well into the third week here on campus when I began to encounter my first experiences with academic challenges. These occurred in my programming class in which I had no previous coding experience thus causing some problems in this class.
My lab was due the next day and I still had no idea what I was doing. With this situation I decided to reach out for some last minute tutoring so I could get this lab done. When I reached out I was not expecting to be able to get an appointment because I figured that it would be too late. But to my surprise I was able to get an appointment and ended up getting my lab finished as well as start to get a grasp of what was happening in that class.
From this experience I realized how determined the staff here are to help you succeed. By them being able to see me at short notice it gave me the relieving feeling of knowing that there are people here that are willing to help me and want to see me prosper. With that being said I also learned a couple lessons from this experience. After the fact I learned that waiting till the last minute to solve your academic issues is not the best way to handle things. I figured out that if I start to fix the problems the moment they begin then it wont blow out of size and result in another last minute situation.
