Dear UTulsa community,

As we begin a vibrant fall semester, I am pleased to share several pieces of good news about the department’s faculty.

Associate Professor Laura Ford has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, a testament to her outstanding contributions to the field of chemical engineering and commitment to excellence in research and education.

Assistant Professor Ahmad Amiri has been awarded a prestigious NASA grant to further his research in sustainable energy solutions. This funding highlights the innovative work being conducted in our department and its significant impact on global energy challenges.

Associate Professor Hema Ramsurn recently received a notable research award for her contributions to the field of energy and sustainability. Her work, in collaboration with leading experts, continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in chemical engineering.

We are also excited to welcome Assistant Professor Aaditya Khanal to our faculty. Aaditya brings a wealth of expertise in modeling the flow of fluids in porous media with applications in energy extraction and climate change mitigation. His research will undoubtedly enhance our department’s capabilities and contribute to our mission of addressing critical environmental issues.

The achievements of our faculty and students are a source of immense pride. Their dedication, creativity, and perseverance are the driving forces behind our success and growth. As we continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of our ever-changing world, I am confident that our department will remain a leader in chemical engineering education and research.

Finally, on a somber note, I share the passing of Professor Emeritus Frank Manning, a dedicated member of our faculty for over 50 years. His passion for teaching and mentorship will be deeply missed.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to The University of Tulsa. Together, we are shaping the future of engineering and innovation.

Sincerely,
Ty Johannes
