The University of Tulsa is among the Top 25 universities in the United States for free speech on campus according to The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and College Pulse. UTulsa was ranked No. 23 overall and No. 2 among private universities.

The largest report of its kind, the 2024-25 College Free Speech Rankings draw from more than 58,000 student responses representing more than 250 colleges and universities nationwide. Ranking metrics are determined by a variety of factors, including tolerance for speakers, comfort expressing ideas, and administrative support for free speech.
