UTulsa named a top campus for free speech in 2025-26

The University of Tulsa is among the Top 25 universities in the United States for supporting free speech according to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and College Pulse.

The largest report of its kind, the 2025-26 College Free Speech Rankings draw from more than 68,000 student responses representing more than 250 colleges and universities nationwide. Ranking metrics are determined by a variety of factors, including tolerance for speakers, comfort expressing ideas and administrative support for free speech.

UTulsa was named No. 12 out of 257 universities in the 2026 edition of this comprehensive guide. In addition, UTulsa placed in the Top 25 for “Comfort Expressing Ideas,” ranked third on “Disruptive Conduct” and experienced zero speech controversies in 2025. This exhibits a campus welcome to open expression.
