Meet Mary Westbrook, the new director of development for Oxley College of Health Sciences

Being chosen as the new director of development for Oxley College of Health Sciences is a dream come true.

I began my academic and professional journey right here in the bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program. After graduating with my BSN in 2003, I worked as a registered nurse at Saint Francis Health System in pediatrics and cardiology. While gaining clinical experience, I continued my studies as a TU student in the master of business administration (MBA) program. I knew as a BSN student that the business-oriented training in the MBA program would introduce opportunities for me, such as director of quality at GlobalHealth where I was able to improve health outcomes, promote quality of care and impact my community. I will celebrate my 10-year MBA anniversary during Homecoming this fall.

Mary Westbrook, director of development for Oxley College of Health SciencesOver the last number of years, I have been deeply involved in many health care-focused philanthropic initiatives. My main areas of activity have been pediatrics, dementia and mental health, including with Saint Francis Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, United Way and the Tulsa chapter of the Mental Health Association. Recently, I contributed my fundraising efforts to found the National Charity League (NCL) Inc., Jenks Chapter. This is a philanthropic organization whose mission centers on service, leadership and cultural training. I am proud to report that in year two NCL Jenks has 245 members who have served approximately 2,000 hours at local charities.

Uniting my efforts in health care and fund development is a love of community. I enjoy matching organizations that have needs with people who have open hearts and excess treasure – all for the benefit of the communities in which we live. As a part of the TU family, I will do my utmost to serve our university, Oxley College of Health Sciences and the students who entrust their futures to us.

As I begin to help Oxley College build strong relationships with partners in our community, I invite you to reach out to me with your inspiration and ideas. Simply send an email (mary-westbrook@utulsa.edu) or give me a call (918-631-3610). I look forward to meeting you.
