Wofford receives 2025 ARES Graaskamp Award

Wofford

Larry Wofford, Davis D. Bovaird Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies and an assistant professor of management & marketing in The University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business, has been awarded the 2025 James A. Graaskamp Award by the American Real Estate Society (ARES).

“It is rewarding to have my work recognized by my peers in the United States and abroad,” said Wofford (B.S.B.S ’70, MBA ’71). “Knowing that I have contributed something of value to others provides a sense of meaning.”

Given annually, the Graaskamp Award goes to a scholar in recognition of a research perspective or service to the discipline that breaks significantly from what was widely accepted or done previously in the real estate discipline. It recognizes extraordinary thought and research throughout a person’s career in the development of a multidisciplinary philosophy of real estate. The award is named in honor of James Graaskamp, a well-known and longtime professor of real estate.

“I was extremely honored to receive this award,” Wofford added. “The namesake of the award, the late James A. Graaskamp, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was a friend, making this award very special.”

Wofford has published extensively on real estate and related topics, including authoring a real estate principles textbook and co-authoring a real estate investment analysis textbook. In his work, Wofford is fascinated by the way cities and urban environments evolve and how entrepreneurial activity creates the built environment and contributes to economic and social development. At UTulsa, he has taught various courses on entrepreneurship, including real estate entrepreneurship.
