About

Emily M. Choquette, Ph.D., is a research assistant professor at The University of Tulsa, an associate investigator at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research (LIBR), and director of the Float Clinic and Research Center. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of South Florida, where her research focused on eating disorders, body image and the functional relationship between disordered eating and alcohol use. She completed her clinical internship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas, and postdoctoral training at LIBR, where she continued her work in eating disorders and developed expertise in interoception, mechanistic clinical trials and mind-body interventions.

Choquette’s current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of mind-body interventions and how these interventions alter neural, physiological and interoceptive systems involved in psychiatric conditions. She is currently leading an NIMH-funded project focused on interoceptive mechanisms of body image disturbance in anorexia nervosa. The aim of this project is to explore an adjunctive therapy for individuals with anorexia nervosa. The broader goal of her research program is to identify treatment targets that can inform novel interventions for eating disorders, anxiety, depression and substance use disorders.
