About
Haixia Zheng, Ph.D., serves as a research assistant professor and a dedicated researcher at the forefront of population immunopsychiatry, an innovative field that blends neuroscience, immunology, statistical genetics, and psychiatry. Her research thoughtfully explores the complex interactions between the immune system and brain structure/function, with a particular focus on how viral infections, such as cytomegalovirus (CMV), influence mood disorders including depression. Utilizing advanced neuroimaging, statistical genetics, and blood-based immune marker assessments, Zheng investigates how genetic and environmental factors contribute to neuroinflammation and its psychiatric implications.
