About
Jason West began his career in higher education within the health and human performance department at the University of Central Missouri as a teaching graduate assistant. For four semesters he instructed undergraduate courses during the day and attended graduate courses at night. As a part of his coursework he was able to engage in a thesis research project, assessing the shoulder strength differences between male baseball players and female softball players.
West took his first official faculty position as a member of the Health, Recreation, and Kinesiology Department at Longwood University. This position offered him the opportunity to instruct majors and non-majors of the kinesiology program and collect data from their health/fitness assessments to do comparative analysis. West began serving at The University of Tulsa as an adjunct professor in 2007. He has been a full-time professor in the KRS department since 2008.
During this time, West has served as the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Oklahoma state director for six years, as the exercise science section chairperson for the Oklahoma Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance for four years, and as an officer in charge of fitness for the Oklahoma Army & Air National Guards for 10 years.
