About
Kristy Covey graduated with her bachelors of science in nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2000 and obtained a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 2012. She is also a certified diabetes care and education specialist with more than 20 years of diabetes education experience. She has been at The University of Tulsa for four years as a full-time nursing faculty.
Her clinical background is primarily community nursing working in various outpatient clinics. She also has experience in school nursing, labor and delivery, and outpatient surgery. She has taught community and diabetes content across all levels in the UTulsa School of Nursing BSN program, and is currently teaching fundamentals in the sophomore level. She also teaches online ABSN program courses. Covey is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Zeta-Delta Chapter-at-large and chair of the BSN Curriculum Committee.
Covey serves as the BSN Clinical Coordinator and manages the traditional nursing students’ clinical experiences along with cultivating clinical cohort relationships. She is passionate about nursing education and the success of the next generation of nurses.
