About

Latoya M. Teague, Ph.D., is a language and literacy assistant professor in the Department of Education who specializes in equitable text selection, children and young adult literature, Black women refusal and writing practices. Teague holds an advanced degree in African and African diaspora studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught English language arts and reading, journalism and yearbook. Her research is also informed by her work as a reading specialist, a librarian and an ELA teacher.
