About

Nancy Sweet-Fitzgibbon, DNAP, CRNA, serves as a clinical associate professor and the director of the nurse anesthesia DNP program. Her professional passions include obstetrical anesthesia best practices, simulation in anesthesia development, substance use disorder awareness, emergence delirium mitigation, and clinical preceptor development. As an RN and then a CRNA, Sweet-Fitzgibbon served 14 years in the U.S. Army, 10 years active duty, and four years reserve. Following her military service, she served as associate faculty and staff CRNA at OU-HSC for 11 years. Her experience includes independent practice in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. In 2020, Sweet-Fitzgibbon returned to her alma mater, accepting the USAGPAN/William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) Deputy Clinical Site Director position with an appointment to Baylor University as a clinical associate professor. Having developed simulation programs at OCCC and WBAMC, Sweet-Fitzgibbon earned a Healthcare Simulation Educator Certificate in 2022. Her joy of teaching and passion for excellence led her to call The University of Tulsa Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences home in January 2023.
