Presidential Lecture Series

Each year, The University of Tulsa’s Presidential Lecture Series hosts enlightening and captivating speakers who discuss a wide range of topics. TU’s Presidential Lecture Series is sponsored by the Darcy O’Brien Endowed Chair and TU’s Oklahoma Center for the Humanities.

All Presidential Lecture Series events are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-seated basis. However, attendees are strongly encouraged to reserve priority seating since a capacity crowd is anticipated. Seats will be held in the priority seating area until 7:15 p.m. when all seats will be released to standing room only guests. Attendees may park on campus for free. A Q&A session will follow the lecture. For more information, please call 918-631-2656.

Requests for accommodation of disabilities may be addressed to TU’s 504 Coordinator at 918-631-2315. To ensure availability of an interpreter, five to seven days notice is needed; 48 hours is recommended for all other accommodations.

The Endowed Chair

The Darcy O’Brien Endowed Chair at The University of Tulsa was established in 1999 to host distinguished scholars in English, law, religion, science and other disciplines compatible with the legacy of Darcy O’Brien.

Visiting scholars who hold the Darcy O’Brien Endowed Chair are individuals of established reputation who command international respect in their fields and demonstrate a commitment to sharing knowledge. While in residence, these scholars devote considerable time and talent to the student body and greater community through classroom teaching and public lectures.

The Darcy O’Brien Endowed Chair provides formal and informal learning opportunities in settings both intimate and all-inclusive. These opportunities take shape in classroom teaching, workshops, colloquia and public lectures. Each scholar develops a residency program appropriate not only to the mission of the endowment but also to the scholarly expertise of the individual visitor. The residency period may vary.

If you would like to support future programs, please consider a gift to the Darcy O’Brien endowment through our online giving page.
