From reducing risk to increasing your chances of success and expanding your network, our expert faculty provides you with invaluable tools to become confident catalysts for growth.

Accounting

Utilize problem-solving and analytical skills that steer businesses toward financial success and help individuals make better decisions today.

Accountants record the data and processes of the business so that an accurate picture of the business is available and better decisions can be made. We offer an undergraduate accounting curriculum that covers financial accounting, financial reporting, managerial/cost accounting, tax, audit, forensic accounting, and accounting information systems.

Our Master of Accountancy (MAcc), a STEM-designated program, prepares students for eligibility to become certified public accountants. Different paths are available for students who wish to apply for the MAcc, depending on their exposure to accounting classes as an undergraduate.

Finance

Explore expansive career opportunities and hone your analytical and problem-solving skills as you pursue a degree in finance from UTulsa.

Dive into the multifaceted world of finance as you learn about accounting, economics, risk management, marketing, and computer information systems. You’ll also explore corporate finance, banking, investment planning, and real estate career paths. Discover how to track and manage the daily operations within an organization, analyze financial positions, and plan for corporate expenditures and acquisitions. 

You’ll also gain hands-on experience managing the student investment fund – a $8 million real-money portfolio. Our risk management center features a lifelike financial laboratory with stock ticker boards, extensive financial databases, computers, and Bloomberg terminals, allowing you to practice your new skills in a real-life setting.

This interdisciplinary program is not only limited to athletes or those interested in coaching but is designed for graduates from different backgrounds wishing to obtain specialized training and succeed in a sports industry sector that most interest them. Under the guidance of our expert faculty, you will identify your elective courses and enjoy dynamic classes that combine hands-on experience in state-of-the-art intercollegiate, interscholastic, and professional team athletic facilities in the Tulsa community with invaluable academic studies.

Our master’s degree in sports leadership prepares you to apply leadership, administrative, and sports science principles to effectively manage athletic programs and teams, regulatory agencies, fitness/rehabilitation facilities and health clubs, sports recreation services, and other related services to leadership positions within the sports industry.

Political Science

Organizational Studies

Master the art and science of organizational behavior to implement effective change that makes a societal impact on a micro and macro level.

The interdisciplinary Organizational Studies major, offered jointly by the Kendall College of Arts & Sciences and the Collins College of Business, consists of a wide range of courses from fields such as psychology, sociology, communications/media studies, economics, management, and marketing. It is ideal for students interested in both liberal arts and professional studies, providing a broad background in various disciplines for a nuanced understanding of how organizations work. This major prepares students for entry-level jobs in businesses, non-profits, and government agencies and has been popular and successful in equipping students with knowledge and skills applicable to diverse career paths.

What is Organizational Studies?
Organizational Studies is an interdisciplinary program focusing on administrative, economic, political, psychological, and sociological factors influencing cooperative human systems. A major in Organizational Studies provides students with an understanding of how organizations operate, how they affect society, and how they change.

Psychology

Become a conduit for social change by gaining invaluable insight into human behavior and the relationships we form, enhancing well-being and personal growth.

Psychology explores human nature’s social and biological aspects, stressing theoretical command and reasoning skills pivotal to processing and evaluating data, claims, and hypotheses that can benefit people in multiple ways. Examining human behavior and brain function to detect emotional patterns and identify disorders, we teach the application of scientific methods to verify collaborative study results. Museum Studies

Museum Studies at The University of Tulsa offers two interdisciplinary programs: an undergraduate minor and a master’s in Museum Science and Management. Both programs benefit from the university’s partnership with Gilcrease Museum, providing students with paid and volunteer opportunities in various departments. The programs emphasize a balance of interdisciplinary coursework and hands-on experience, preparing students for careers in museums, cultural heritage centers, and non-profit organizations. The undergraduate minor can be paired with any major and includes lectures, seminars, field trips, internships, and case studies. The master’s program allows specialization in museum administration, collections care and research, or cultural heritage preservation, offering graduate assistantships for highly qualified students.

Women’s & Gender Studies

Examine how gender, race, class, culture, sexuality, and age have shaped the life experiences of women and people of all genders.

Our interdisciplinary curriculum is designed to provide you with the frameworks and tools to better understand human interactions, life experiences, and the economic and social institutions that impact people of different genders.

You can tailor your studies to suit your interests and choose from our five specializations: visual arts, performing arts, entertainment and commercial arts, cultural and public administration, or music industry.

UTulsa’s environmental policy programs include an option for a bachelor’s of arts or a bachelor’s of science. Through a dynamic and flexible curriculum, graduates gain critical and analytical skills to assess the implications of environmental challenges.

Film

Share the passion of our collaborative community and pursue your dreams in the creative art of filmmaking.

Fostering visual literacy by providing analytical and critical prowess to understand and interpret film from various aspects, our program enables you to make cinema that conveys compelling stories. You will gather theoretical knowledge that underlies filmmaking and master essential creative and technical skills. From script to final edit, you will unearth the production process and the professional requirements of the film industry. Filmmaking allows student producers to expand their visual storytelling skills. While these skills are critical to the traditional creative fields, they also apply to law, business, health, and even medicine.

Furthering hands-on learning experiences, you will develop extensive portfolios while working in state-of-the-art studios and production labs. You will join a close-knit, collaborative environment led by our professional faculty, allowing you to focus on capstone projects during your senior year and learn first-hand what it takes to become the next generation of filmmakers.

The Department of Education, in collaboration with other academic departments across the UTulsa campus, offers several degree programs which lead to K-12 teacher certifications in the State of Oklahoma. UTulsa students pursuing teacher certification specialize in elementary education, instrumental or vocal music, English, French, German, Spanish, art, social studies, or mathematics. Those who aspire to teach at the middle or high school level double major in education and a degree field matched to their area of specialization. All education majors benefit from early and extensive field and clinical experiences in local public schools and the University School, a private PK-8 school on the UTulsa campus. All education majors spend their final semester student teaching in local schools under the supervision of mentor teachers and UTulsa faculty.
