Responsible Conduct of Research

The University of Tulsa is dedicated to the highest standards of research integrity and is committed to responsible and ethical conduct for all those involved in research. The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) at the Public Health Service directs activities on behalf of the Secretary of Health and Human Services with the exception of the regulatory research integrity activities of the Food and Drug Administration. Their website is located at https://ori.hhs.gov/ and contains a wealth of information on the Responsible Conduct of Research.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research

The National Science Foundation requires training for individuals supported by National Science Foundation funds.

Under the America COMPETES Act (ACA), NSF requires training in the Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR) for all undergraduates, graduate students, and post docs (effective January 4, 2010) and faculty and other senior personnel (effective July 31, 2023).

All institutions submitting proposals to NSF must certify that they have a training plan in place.  Training plans do not need to be submitted with the proposal, but are subject to review upon request.  Institutions are responsible for verifying that these individuals receive training.
