Six-Month Update (Employee email)

Dear colleagues,

My first six months at TU have been filled with activity. We have overhauled our admissions and enrollment efforts, deepened our financial expertise, dramatically upgraded our IT department, searched for a new provost, and much more. I am confident that we are taking the steps to restore TU to its place among the top 75 universities in the nation. None of this is possible without your enthusiastic support.

Getting to know many of you and learn in-depth about our university and its history has been a highlight of this year. I am grateful to the faculty and staff who have taken the time to teach me about their roles on campus and their hopes for TU. I have visited most of the academic departments, and, in the new year, I look forward to completing that effort and meeting with staff departments, too.

To the faculty who teach and inspire our students, I share your desire to fully restore TU to a thriving campus worthy of distinction. We need your ingenuity and drive to ensure our university is among the best in the nation – and the world. We already are making strides across campus. Just this semester, we have:

I am proud of what we have accomplished together and am grateful for the dedicated leaders, teachers, mentors, and researchers throughout our faculty ranks. Greater accomplishments await us during the spring semester.

To the staff members, many of whom serve our campus 24 hours a day 365 days a year, please accept my sincerest gratitude. Your devotion to our students is inspiring. From those who make our campus beautiful, clean, safe, and inviting to those who are there for our current – and prospective – students when they need answers or advice, all of you are indispensable to our success.

My goal is to make TU the best place to work in Tulsa. To that end, I am pleased to say that we will offer half-day Fridays from June 1 through Aug. 6, so you will have a little extra time to recharge. More announcements of positive change are expected in 2022. Please keep your faith in what TU can be.

There is still a long road ahead of us, but I hope you can enjoy the winter break secure in the knowledge that we headed in the right direction and that brighter days are ahead. My door is always open, and I look forward to working alongside each of you as we build on our successes.

Sincerely,

Brad
