Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX broadly prohibits sexual misconduct in recruitment, admissions, employment, retention, and access to educational programs or activities. Sexual misconduct encompasses all forms of sex and gender-based discrimination, including harassment, violence, and assault, as well as dating violence, domestic violence, interpersonal violence, stalking and sexual exploitation. Sexual misconduct is prohibited by TU Policy and will not be tolerated within the TU community.
Title IX requires TU to investigate reports of sexual misconduct and to provide internal grievance procedures. These procedures offer persons reporting sexual misconduct an internal avenue for holding violators accountable for their actions. Title IX also requires TU to appoint a Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator is charged with monitoring compliance with Title IX; providing education and training; tracking and reporting annually on all incidents of sexual misconduct; and coordinating TU’s investigation, response, and resolution of all such reports within the TU community so as to ensure a fair and equitable process for all parties involved.
TU’s Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Coordinators (listed below) are available to assist you if you have questions or concerns regarding TU policies prohibiting sexual misconduct or if you have questions about or wish to file a complaint under TU’s internal Grievance Procedures. The Coordinator and Deputies also can provide you with information about TU Resources (including anonymous reporting and interim and remedial safety measures immediately available to you) as well as numerous Community Resources.
Please feel free to contact any of the following TU employees for assistance.
