Notice of Rights under Title IX - The University of Tulsa

Notice of Rights under Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX broadly prohibits sex discrimination in recruitment, admissions, employment, retention, and access to educational programs or activities. Sex discrimination encompasses sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Sex discrimination is prohibited by TU Policy and will not be tolerated within the TU community.

Title IX requires TU to investigate reports of sex discrimination and to provide internal grievance procedures. These procedures offer persons reporting misconduct an internal avenue for holding violators accountable for their actions. Title IX also requires TU to appoint a Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator is charged with monitoring compliance with Title IX; providing education and training; tracking and reporting annually on all incidents of sex discrimination; and coordinating TU’s investigation, response, and resolution of all such reports within the TU community so as to ensure a fair and equitable process for all parties involved.

TU’s Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Coordinators (listed below) are available to assist you if you have questions or concerns regarding TU’s Title IX Policy if you have questions about or wish to file a formal complaint and invoke internal grievance procedures. The Coordinator and Deputies also can provide you with information about TU Resources (including anonymous reporting and interim and remedial safety measures immediately available to you) as well as numerous Community Resources.

Please feel free to contact any of the following TU employees for assistance.
