There are a number of ways you can prevent sexual violence and support survivors. The following resources will provide you with in-person and online resources to learn more.

Prevention Programming for Student Leaders

Each fall, members of TITAN, with the help of other Alliance members, facilitate prevention programming for undergraduate Orientation Leaders (OLs) and Resident Assistants (RAs). This programming focuses on educating OLs and RAs, as student leaders on TU’s campus, about sexual violence and bystander intervention. Trainings also seek to equip student leaders with information that could then be passed on to the undergraduate students with whom they work. Please contact kelsey-hancock@utulsa.edu for information about how your organization’s student leaders can receive similar training.

The VIBe

The Violence Intervention Booklets (VIBe) provide information about various forms of interpersonal violence and useful on-campus and community resources for individuals who may experience, or know someone who has experienced interpersonal violence. These booklets were created in 2013, and continue to be distributed across campus.

Email prevention@utulsa.edu to get a copy of the VIBe.

Additional Information

You can be a part of changing culture, addressing sexual violence, and supporting survivors of sexual violence. The topics below are intended to provide additional information for those interested.

Bystander Intervention for students

Bringing in the Bystander is a 90 minute training that allows you to learn more about how you can play a role in ending sexual violence. You will learn to learn skills and tools to intervene safely and effectively in cases where sexual assault may be occurring or where there may be risk. You will develop skills to recognize inappropriate behavior relating to sexual and relationship violence and how to respond, using direct and indirect intervention methods, while keeping your own safety in mind. Individual students and student groups are both welcome to sign up. Each session is capped at 20. Please contact Kelsey Hancock to request additional information about these and other trainings available to you as individual students or student organizations.

Bystander Intervention for faculty and staff

Bystander Intervention for Faculty and Staff will provide information on campus and federal reporting mandates and tools and skills to support students who report and act of violence to you.
