Union expanding with eight new eateriesStudent Union

The University of Tulsa has renamed the Allen Chapman Activity Center to the Allen Chapman Student Union. The change reflects the facility’s overall purpose as TU’s main hub for student services, meetings and dining.

The first floor of the Union currently is under renovation and soon will offer several new dining establishments including Pizza Hut Express, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Baja Jack’s, Sushi Blu, Benevenutos, Star Ginger, Tossed and Simply To Go. Other additions include outdoor patio space and updated entrances. Construction will wrap up in the fall 2014 semester before renovations begin on the upper level. Second floor changes will feature remodeled lecture rooms and study space as well as the renaming of the Union’s Great Hall to the Mary K. Chapman Great Hall.

The 78,000-square-foot Union was built in 1987 and features a center atrium design. The facility serves as a center for TU students, employees, alumni and guests. Previously housed within the Union, TU’s bookstore is moving to a new location at the corner of 11th Street and Harvard Avenue.
