About

Hailed for the luminous quality of her voice and her impeccable musicianship, Judith Pannill Raiford has sung throughout the contiguous forty-eight states, Canada, Europe, Scandinavia and the former Soviet Union. She has appeared as soloist in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Halls at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The Black Sea Festival, the Schwetzingen Festival, The Prague Spring Festival, Philharmonia Recital Hall in Warsaw, and Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow.

As a resident of New York City for 18 years, she had an active performing career as a guest soloist with many of the premiere choral, orchestral, and chamber music organizations across the country. Featured on numerous international radio and television shows including Sunday Morning with Charles Kuralt and Nightwatch with Charlie Rose, Raiford also recorded works by Johannes Brahms, Johann Strauss II, and Antonio Caldara for the Arabesque and Albany labels and produced a solo album of contemporary American art song, “Love on my Heart,” with TU colleague Brady McElligott at the piano.

A well-respected pedagogue in the region, her students have been accepted into elite graduate programs at Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory of Music (Johns Hopkins University), University of Miami, Indiana University, NYU, and Mannes School of Music (The New School) among others, and have garnered recognition as winners and finalists at major vocal competitions including those sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Hyechka Music Club of Tulsa, and the International Crescendo Music Awards.
