Global TU

Allan Goodman, president, and CEO of the Institute for International Education, advised America’s university trustees that, “U.S. institutions of higher education need foreign policies, but not in the traditional sense of the phrase. Their leaders need to formulate institution-wide policies to assess their current engagement with the world and future strategic agenda.”

UTulsa’s “foreign policy” is reflected in our mission statement, to educate “men and women of diverse backgrounds and cultures” to “welcome the responsibility of citizenship and service in a changing world.” As part of this mission, UTulsa has identified internationalization as an institutional priority.

Established in 2025 by the Center for Global Engagement, the Faculty Champion of Global Engagement Award recognizes University of Tulsa faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing UTulsa’s international presence and reputation. This distinguished honor celebrates educators who represent the university with excellence on national and international stages, foster meaningful cross-cultural partnerships, integrate global perspectives into their teaching and research, and inspire students to engage with global opportunities.

Nominations are due April 1 each year. Recipients are recognized at the Global Graduates Ceremony prior to commencement.
