The University of Tulsa's McFarlin Library

For nearly a century, McFarlin Library has stood proudly at the heart of The University of Tulsa campus, symbolizing the core of UTulsa’s academic and cultural life. As the university’s intellectual hub, McFarlin Library supports the academic, research, and personal growth of our diverse university community. It offers access to comprehensive collections and cutting-edge technologies, fostering an environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and lifelong learning.

Beyond its academic role, McFarlin Library is also the center of the campus experience. From the annual homecoming bonfire on Dietler Commons and picnics on the patio, to late nights in the reading rooms and study groups in the cafe, McFarlin memories stand as a testament to the shared experiences and milestones of six generations of UTulsa students.

In addition to financial and physical material gifts, as we approach McFarlin Library’s centennial celebration we ask members of the UTulsa family to share your special library memories and photographs for our archive. Just as McFarlin is part of your life story, we invite you to become part of McFarlin’s.

Dean's Priorities

McFarlin Library will celebrate its centennial in 2029. To transform the library for a new century, the dean has identified three priorities:

  1. Service enhancement
Aligning with UTulsa’s priority to provide wrap-around support for every student, McFarlin Library is committed to investing in state-of-the-art library infrastructure, expanding the library literacy program, and meeting the growing demands for specialized services.
  2. Resource accessibility
Enhancing access to relevant and compelling content and collections. This collection supports acquisitions of both print and electronic resources, as well as open access publications.
  3. Modernized library spaces
The library is experiencing a physical transformation to align with innovative service models. Spaces will be reconfigured to facilitate collaborative learning, provide dedicated areas for specialized services, and integrate modern technologies to support research and information dissemination.
