The Board of Advocates is the only Moot Court / Mock Trial organization at the University of Tulsa College of Law. Membership is open to any law student interested in advocacy and is also in good standing with the university. The Board includes members at large and the Executive Council.
The Board of Advocates provides opportunities for professional development of the oral and written skills required of the legal profession. The Board sponsors two intra-school competitions: a negotiation competition for first year students, and the Professor John W. Hager Memorial Competition for all students. The Board also sponsors a number of upper-class competitions from which students are chosen to represent the College of Law in regional, national, and international competitions. - National Native American Law Student Association Moot Court Competition
- National Health Law Moot Court Competition
- JAG Corps Brigadier General Wayne E. Alley Military Law Moot Court Competition
Most competitions are preceded by workshops. The Board works closely with judges, practicing attorneys, faculty and alumni who judge the competitions and coach the regional, national, and international teams.
Our Mission
The mission of the Board of Advocates is to develop the oral skills essential to the practice of law. This takes place in a broad range of settings including negotiation, mediation, trial, and appellate advocacy. Subjects include contract law, criminal law, energy and environmental law, health law, Native American law, and tort law.
