Robert Kowal
Director of Veterans Affairs

Robert Kowal (KO-wahl) joined The University of Tulsa in October 2023 as assistant director of veterans affairs. As a retired veteran of the U.S. Army, Robert brings more than two decades of leadership experience, organizational change management, recruitment & retention expertise, and a deep understanding of veterans benefits.
The director of veterans affairs serves as a liaison and adviser to veteran and military-connected students, alumni, and prospective students. The director provides practical advice and skill development to support student retention and cultivates a network of military-friendly employers and contacts who act as hiring champions for military-connected students and alumni. Kowal serves as a student veteran advocate and provides organizational support to the Student Veteran Association.
As a native of the four-state area, Kowal has called Oklahoma home since his military retirement. He holds a bachelor’s degree in administration from Post University and a master’s degree in marketing from Liberty University.
