TU honored with 2018 HEED Award for Diversity

2018 HEED AwardThe University of Tulsa has received the 2018 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. The HEED Award is a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion. TU is one of 96 recipients to be featured in the November 2018 issue. This is the second year TU has been named a HEED Award recipient.

“TU is honored to be among this year’s HEED award recipients. Our commitment is based on a fundamental belief that diversity and inclusion are essential components of a quality education. In this spirit, we want our students to feel accepted, engaged, empowered and set on a path to self-discovery,” said Jacqueline Caldwell, TU vice president for diversity and engagement. “We are humbled by this national recognition and inspired to continue this very important work of promoting excellence through diversity.”

The importance of different backgrounds, beliefs and perspectives lies at the heart and soul of TU’s mission. With students from more than 65 countries and 31 multicultural and diversity student organizations, the university embraces diversity, equity and inclusion in a way that promotes a holistic educational experience for all members of the community.
