Safe UTulsa App

Safe UTulsa is the fastest way to connect directly to UTulsa Security for emergency issues (life-threatening) and nonemergency assistance (such as lockouts). The app also will notify you of potential hazards, such as storms, and help guide you to safety.

You also can:

• request monitoring from UTulsa Security through the Virtual Walk Home feature
• share your location with a friend or family member for peace of mind
  receive directions to navigate campus
• access mental health and/or assault resources for yourself or others
• report suspicious behavior or criminal activity
• use the study/work feature

The app also will help us notify you when classes are canceled because of inclement weather or other circumstances. More features may be added as they become available.

Study/Work Alone Feature

The Study/Work Alone feature on the Safe UTulsa app is designed to assist you and a friend/family member or UTulsa Security in safely monitoring those situations where you are studying or working by yourself for extended periods of time. On the app, you enter your location, select the amount of time you will be working alone, and frequency in which you want a virtual check-in.

• The app will send a push notification asking you to check in. If you confirm you’re OK, the app will send you another push notification at the next interval of time. If you fail to check in within five minutes, the app will call your friend/family member or UTulsa Security.
• Should attempts to reach you fail, UTulsa Security will go to your location and confirm you are physically safe.
• Otherwise, you continue to check in at the regular intervals, and the Study/Work Alone ends when scheduled to.

The university is excited to offer this comprehensive technology to our campus community as we continue to explore ways to better ensure safety for all.

All students, faculty, and staff should download the Safe UTulsa app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), register with your UTulsa credentials through single sign-on, and be sure to turn on notifications and location services. Parents and visitors can also download the app and receive notifications, so please feel free to share this information with others.
