The Honors Living Learning Community (HLLC) in Hardesty Hall contributes greatly to the Honors College experience by providing its residents with a home that complements the mission of the Honors College.
The HLLC, which occupies two floors of Hardesty Hall reserved for Honors College students, creates a space for students who value the intellectual life to gather and discuss their honors seminar readings with peers. Such late-night conversations often forge deep and lasting friendships, as students work to discern what they believe is true, good, and beautiful. The HLLC helps build a community of learners around the honors core seminar experience, as students bring their diverse life experiences and perspectives to the interpretation of shared texts, helping one another bring those texts to life in new ways. Much of the learning takes place outside the classroom and in community, so the HLLC allows students to learn more deeply as they form meaningful connections with one another.
The HLLC also serves to deepen students’ relationships with their faculty mentors. A variety of programs hosted by the Honors College brings professors and students together outside of the classroom, including invited faculty lectures, informal dinners, local outings, reading groups, and more.
