Extended Day Program

University School administers an Extended Day Program (EDP) that is open to all students. EDP consists of four parts: before-care, clubs, study hall, and free play time. Students must be enrolled in EDP to use it. To be adequately staffed and prepared, we cannot allow drop-ins, except in the case of emergency or significant need. Please reach out to us if you in such need. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Before-care provides supervision for children who need dropped off before the school day begins. Students of all grades are grouped together, which provides excellent opportunity for interaction between our older and younger students. Students may play on the playground or gym, or study and have quiet activity space in the music room.

Clubs are part of University School’s co-curricular offerings and enrolled in on a semester basis and usually offered to specific age ranges. Their schedules vary by club. USchool makes its best effort given its staffing capabilities to provide a robust offering of activities for its students. Associated fees are used to support University School’s club program. Parent volunteers are welcome to bring their talents to help deliver our club program and it provides an excellent opportunity for parent involvement.

Study hall immediately follows the school day and is an hour of supervised classroom time for completion of homework with the support of classroom teachers. Many University School families take advantage of this opportunity for their families.

Free-play time follows Study Hall and allows students to actively play with friends and unwind after the school day until they are picked up.
